The park's relatively flat terrain makes it popular with runners looking for a place to get a bit of exercise, with one of the favorite paths being along Reservoir Loop, while the abundance of water on the property help keeps the air cool during the hot summer months. Resting beside the Allegheny River, the park is close to the eastern edge of the city, offering a quieter experience than those of parks closer to the urban center.
